The same phrase is being repeated everywhere: “history is in crisis”. In the West, the same statement is readily dependent upon a largely epistemological approach. The explosion of research subjects, competition with other social sciences, and the multiplication of methodologies and schools of history ail participate in a problematic which even goes as far as denying to the history discipline the status of a type of knowledge.
