Blood and Seed, Trunk and Hearth: Kinship and Common Origin in Southern Albania
Résumé
Albanian society is commonly described as tribal or clanic, i.e. a society in which kinship ties are particularly strong and structuring, including in politics. Ethnographic material collected in the South-eastern district of Devoll in the 1990s is used here to question and challenge this common image.
