The three women souks of the Omani Sharqiy-a are weekly markets, of relatively recent appearance (1980's and 1990's). They are reserved to women, both sellers and buyers ; in addition, the offered products are only related to the domestic economy and the women and children clothes. This article deals with providing a first approach of these markets - rare in the Arab world - replaced in the geographical, political and social context of the Sultanate of Oman. Their study makes it possible to clarify the position of the women in the patriarchal society and the Omani economy, in particular through the comparison with the "usual" souks, almost exclusively “men souks”, in Oman like elsewhere.
