Vers un "tiers-paysage" ? Géographie paysagère des fonds de vallées sud-armoricaines. Héritage, évolution, adaptation

Abstract : Critical to early economic development of european valleys, the use of watermills as a tool of production has been progressively marginalized. Weirs and mills remains and are the material and symbolical legacy of the ancient technical system, most of them are considered as part of a collective heritage. They are now used for recreational activities (angling, hiking, canoeing), and converted into residence. This new leisure landscape requires the restoration of the old structures (high water level demand). Nevertheless, two emerging project could be identified (small dam removal for river restoration / small scale hydropower).
