Le pont de Sommières (Gard) : entre modélisation numérique et lecture des sources anciennes, l’histoire d’une restitution admise depuis le XIXe s.

Abstract : Dominated by the ancient small town of Villevielle (Gard), the bridge of Sommières saw its area gained by the medieval town extension. The history of the monument after the antic period is abundantly informed by the ancient sources and the publications of the XIXth century. Since the studies of St.-V. Grangent in 1819, the restitution of the bridge such as it had to be in antiquity was any more debated. Some differences appear however in the ancient documentation, which tends to call it into question. It is the confrontation of these texts with the statement in lasergrammetry realized in 2005 by the company ATM.3D which allowed to clear up the hank of the contradictory indications conveyed by the ancient sources and to invalidate the restitution usually acceopted since the beginning of the XIXth century.
