[Since 1980, the fertility rate has been declining in Europe, but remains steady in United States. During the same period of time, the economic growth has been faster in the United States. Can this gap be partly explained by some consequences of this fertility’s difference?]

L’observation démographique met en évidence une nette différence dans les évolutions de la fécondité des Etats-Unis et de l’Union européenne depuis les années 1980. Dans cette même période, le taux de croissance économique des Etats-Unis s’est révélé plus favorable. Cet écart économique peut-il en partie se justifier par des mécanismes découlant de l’écart de fécondité ?
