Application de la technique d'analyse rythmique à la vulnérabilité aux évènements pluviométriques extrêmes dans les quartiers urbains à São Paulo, Brésil.

Abstract : The objective of this work is the analysis of extreme precipitation events, observing the negative effects and impacts on areas of risk for housing in certain districts of the south and north regions of the municipality of São Paulo. These regions were chosen because of their physical and climatic similarities and their different vulnerability conditions (most important in the southern region ). The period of analysis chosen is the rainy season (November to March) between 2000 and 2010, during which there have been more recorded accidents. The rhythmic analysis (Monteiro, 1971) was conducted to examine the climatic phenomena of each episode. This analysis has highlighted the important role of the convergence zone of the South Atlantic and Atlantic polar front. These summer typical weather systems in the southeast of Brazil were responsible for the genesis of rain, which combined with the spatial characteristics of the affected areas have triggered the accidents. In the south region, poorest and more vulnerable, less intense rainfall was sufficient to cause significant damage.
