Familles agricoles, mobilités sociales et stratégies d'installation à la terre dans la région d'Alençon (Orne)

Abstract : This contribution presents the results of a survey conducted among farmers in the Alençon region (Orne, Lower Normandy) on the socio-professional future of their children. These results are taken from a thesis work devoted to the transformations of the social reproduction conditions of the peasantry in Basse-Normandie. They result from a cross between a statistical survey (factorial correspondence analysis between farming systems and social trajectories of farmers'children) and a family monographic approach (reconstitution of typical cases of installations focusing on economic stakes of some forms of installation, particularly Agricultural Farming Groups in common between parents and children). This work is part of a social geography perspective. In this capacity, he contributes to the study of social inequalities in agriculture by exploring the scientific and social issues of a geographical approach to the agricultural succession crisis.
