Premières données sur le site de Marseillon (Banos, Landes) : un nouveau gisement Solutréen de plein air en Chalosse?

Abstract : The Chalosse region, and more particularly the area around Audignon, is well-knwon for a long time for its richness in lithic raw materials and archaeological industries. In this paper, we report the results of an archaeological survey carried on around the Laudon river in Banos (Landes). This work leads useful informations on the Upper Paleolithic settlement of the area concerned. Following previous work undertaken by P. Lafitte, we discover a numerous lithic assemblage including tools and cores. We report a preliminary study and a first chrono-cultural interpretation of the industry. We more particularly discuss the hypothesis that the assemblage could well represent a very early Solutrean occupation, an interpreation that needs to be more precisely tested.
