Clause sociale : limites et contradictions des réponses syndicales

Abstract : Those who lay claim to a social chapter in the General Agreement on Tarifs and Trade aim at enforcing in all countries a set of basic social rights. Such a requirement can not be taken at face value though. Its very validity and efficiency remain to be seen. The two main French trade unions, the CFDT and the CGT, are striving to include this notion in their analysis of any response to globalisation. The way both organisations tackle this issue reveals their respective evolution in so far as ideology is concerned.
