Abstract : What vocational training supplies do not pursue professionalizing goals these days? Professionalisation is obviously in vogue at present, since it is being promoted by national and European policies on how initial and continuing vocational training should be organised, as well as being upheld by the public sectors. The author looks at the reasons for the move which has been going on for several decades to professionalise the initial and continuing training supply in France, the modes involved in the measures adopted, and the problems arising when it is attempted to put the principles of professionalisation into practice.
