Abstract: The temple of Apollo whose construction began in the sanctuary of Claros in the late 4th century BC was a peripteral Doric temple with a five degrees krepis , five columns on the short sides and eleven on the long ones. His sékos included a vestibule and a hypaethros courtyard, where stood a well, whose water was the inspiration for the oracle. Ongoing work in the 2nd century BC led to the installation of a two-room crypt at the location of the court. A corridor built under the pronaos led to it. Above the crypt a naos was created, at the back of which a group of statues representing the Apollonian triad was erected. The colonnade of peristasis, whose construction began at the end of the Hellenistic period, was never completed. Hadrian financed the entablature of the facade of six columns and five on each long side.
