ADVISING IN A MULTILINGUAL SETTING: NEW PERSPECTIVES FOR THE ROLE OF THE ADVISOR
Résumé
The authors analyze aspects of the language advisor's role in the context of multilingual resource centers. Using semi-directive interviews, they investigate the way advisors organise their practice in a multilingual centre and cooperate with other advisors, the way in which the advisors' specific contexts influence the way they conceive their role, and the way in which technology-based innovative aspects cause pedagogical relationships to evolve. The study involves a comparative dimension, as the three centres involved are situated in three different countries. The results show that the multilingualism of the center does not promote, per se, plurilingualism and cooperation among advisors. What is important is to redefine the notion of 'language specialist', moving from a definition based on languages to one that is more transversal and based on language didactics.
