On the asymmetrical but regular properties of French possessive DPs

This paper attempts to smooth out the apparently asymmetrical distribution of lexical and functional 'possessors' in French DPs. It is argued that this contrast echoes the one between lexical and functional (pronominal) subjects in clauses.
