„Es ist nicht selbstverständlich, dass man uns wählt“. Schweizer Parteien im Wahlkampf (1947-1983)

Abstract : Post-war Swiss election campaigns have long been regarded as non-events with minimal consequences for party cooperation in the federal parliament and government. However, they enabled the parties in power in Switzerland to regularly renegotiate their relations with society and the electorate. The major upheavals of this period - such as the introduction of female suffrage - and the professionalization of political communication are just some of the challenges that the parties faced. Thus, election campaigns are not empty rituals, but rather demonstrate a particular tension between immobility and movement, between the confirmation of existing power relations and the creation of new possibilities for political action.
