LES DYNAMIQUES AGRICOLES DANS LES ESPACES URBAINS ET PERIURBAINS. DIVERSIFICATION ET STRATEGIES D'ADAPTATION DES AGRICULTURES. LES CAS DES PERIPHERIES SUD-EST DE LILLE ET NORD DE LENS.

Abstract : Agriculture in peri-urban spaces is compelled for two reasons ( an increased economical liberalization and the results of urban closeness ) . Nevertheless, the general and local context gives it an opportunity to invest in a renewal of its functions ( the contexts of the sustainable development and the partnerships between the town and agriculture ) . Thus our main outset was the question of the commitment of farming concerns into the process of “agricultural transition” through the way of the diversification of farming concerns, especially through the services, and in a view to fix into town territory . The typology of trajectories and strategies of adaptation established according to the dynamics of income systems and to the importance of the links between agriculture and town, singles “occultation trajectories”, “specialization” ones, trajectories of “self-commitment in a logic of opening up to the urban demands”, of “conversion” . Agriculture territorialisation, its fitting with it, isn't the only way chosen to adapt to general and local contexts . Diversification through services isn't the only strategy of adaptation to town either . The typology of agricultural areas enhances the fact that the agricultural transition takes effect in a very unequally way from one town to another and even within the same urban periphery . Towns in the north periphery of Lens and the considered Belgian cases are for the most important part characterized by a deterritorialisation of the income systems . The examined trajectories have been motivated, on the one hand by the dying-down of a “mining agricultural model”, and on the other hand, by the “necessity” to put up with heavy beet quotas . On the other hand, the towns of Loos-en-Gohelle and those of the Lille periphery are characterized by their agricultural fixing to urban territories .The self-actualization of the discontinuities, brought in by the closeness of the border, contributes to these dynamics, within the studied area of Lille neighbourhood . A group dynamics in Loos, the “chicory precedent” in Pévèle-Mélantois have been deciding . In this context, agriculture answers only partly the expectations expressed on every scale, and more particularly urban ones . The study underlines how difficult it is to make the representations of the territory concord, between the elected representatives and the farmers ( as far as deterritorialised agricultures are concerned ) . On the other hand, the partnerships committed in Lille are a matter for a process of co-construction . The principle of a contractualization between decision makers and farmers lays on policies of reinforcement of trajectories of diversification by the services . Nevertheless, the committed programmes don't solve the factors of “dropping off” mentioned above .
