What Exiles Form the Memories?

Abstract : This article explores the issue of the displaced of the colonial worlds, their broken language, the absence inscribed through the landscapes and the most intimate spaces of the houses to the external places of meeting, shopping, sociability and worship. I show how the experience, practice and knowledge of these sedimented spaces where multiple absences are embedded - that of Algeria, and that of the countries before Algeria, among others - led me to understand the dense and loose points of identification and the relationships, even conflicting ones, to different territories, beyond Algeria, Egypt and the other countries where these displaced people resettled.
