When Sound Archives Whisper Their History: Creation and Organisation of a Research Sound Archives Centre through Its Different Stakeholders

Abstract : n order to present the sound archive centre of the Maison méditerranéenne des sciences de l'homme locates in Aix-en-Provence, the authors look back at its history, which is the result of the meeting of three distinct disciplinary components: history, ethnolinguistics and anthropology. They process the context of production of the sound archives, their organisation, their documentation methods as well as future prospects. They rely on recorded interviews with the different actors who participated in its creation. The narrative implies going back over two essential terms to this history, which began in 1978 within the Centre for Research on Ethnotexts, Oral History and Regional Talks (CREHOP): "ethnotexts" and "sound archives". This presentation of the collections is an opportunity to review the technological history of the media deposited in the archive centre and its treatment methods.
