Perception et traitement d'un phénomène de variation phonologique dans la parole continue parentale adressée à l'enfant : le cas de la liaison

Abstract : One particularity of the phenomenon of liaison is that, in continuous speech, it offers patterns of variation at word boundaries. Specifically, liaison is a phonological phenomenon of alternation that occurs at the boundary between two words (Word 1 and Word 2). The process consists of the production of a liaison consonant, whose nature is determined by the nature of Word 1. Through the analysis of two dense corpora of parent-child interactions, this paper examines how the child proceeds to acquire this Sandhi phenomenon. Our analysis focuses on the influence of the parental input on the production of the first liaisons by the child. We also consider the effect of socio-economic criteria on the child’s speech segmentation and the speed of liaison acquisition.
