Abstract : Walter Burley is, in the first part of 14th century, an essential stage in the elaboration of the forms of realism that will be supported in the late Middle Ages. This paper examines the crucial positions of Burley in three domains : the theory of categories, the theory of simple supposition, and his most original contribution that is the idea of real proposition (propositio in re)
