Quand les migrants se choisissent : qualification sociale et sélection des postulants à la migration au Maroc

Zusammenfassung Unsere Studie beschäftigt sich mit den Formen der sozialen Regulierung von Migrationsanwärtern in einer marokkanischen Stadt. Dieses System, das auf einer Qualifizierung bzw. Disqualifizierung bereits vor dem Aufbruch beruht, bevorzugt die dauerhafte Migration und trägt zur Erhöhung des sozialen Status des Migranten im Herkunftsland bei. Der Figur des bedauernswerten, isolierten und passiven Migranten stellen wir somit den strategischen Migranten gegenüber, der durch lokalisierte soziale Prozesse konstituiert zum Träger eines Projektes kollektiver Mobilität wird.
Abstract Our study explores the various forms of social regulation imposed on candidates for emigration in a Moroccan town. This system of judgments, based on a preliminary qualification/disqualification of the candidates at the outset, gives preference to long-term migration by according such emigrants high social prestige in their home country. Thus, to counter the stereotype of a miserable, isolated, and passive migrant, we offer the image of a strategic migrant, who has been “qualified” by local social authorities and who is aligned with a project of collective mobility.
Résumé Notre étude explore les formes de régulation sociale des postulants à la migration dans une ville marocaine. Ce système, basé sur une qualification/disqualification des candidats au départ, donne la primauté à la migration durable en rétribuant ses titulaires par un prestige social élevé dans le pays d’origine. À la figure du migrant misérable, isolé et passif nous opposerons donc un migrant stratège, qualifié par des procédures sociales localisées et porteur d’un projet de mobilité collectif.
