Formes d'engagement des écrivains: continuités et ruptures

Abstract : The authority of the committed writer has declined in France since the late 1970s, due to a combination of factors. However, a phenomenon of repoliticization can currently be observed, in two forms: on the one hand, with festivals and writers’ residencies, new spaces of intervention in the city are opening up to writers, inaugurating a form that can be said to be hybrid in that the two modes of commitment, through the works and through the positions taken, are likely to come together; on the other hand, the ideological novel has been replaced by the uncovering of symbolic violence. Going back to the two dimensions of commitment will enable us to probe these transformations.
