This chapter analyses engagement in local participatory democracy in relation with residential trajectory, housing status and relations with ownership. It shows how different housing conditions determine biographical availability for engagement and social dispositions to participate. It explores three main results linking residence and civic engagement in participatory democracy: residence as a triggering element, as a familiarization to a role and as a factor of division of the spaces of participation.
