Des « seigneuries » laïques aux territoires ecclésiaux ? Dynamique du processus de spatialisation dans les actes diplomatiques numérisés (VIIe-XIIIe siècles)

Abstract : Although medieval spatial entities have been the subject of various investigations in recent years, they have never been considered globally on a European scale. Thanks to the diplomatic corpus of the Cartae Europae Medii Aevi (CEMA), the article proposes to study the dynamics of some thirty terms relating to these spatial structures. It thus highlights three phases of spatialization, which gradually lead to the strengthening of ecclesiastical control - and thus to a spiritualization of the medieval spatial organization system.
