Globalization and Migration in the Tempest of the 'return of Borders'.

Résumé

This conference is about globalization. It has a double ambition. On the one hand, it is a question of understanding the social and historical construction of productive systems embedded in globalization and their ability to fit into a global economic space. And, on the other hand, to tell a "different story" of globalization, from a triple point of view: goods (worthy and unworthy), people and territories. Globalisation is a complex phenomenon that we consider here mainly in terms of the transnationalisation of the economy, i.e. the emergence of "free zones" (Mercier, 1997, 2017) or "grey zones" (Azaïs, 2014) or corridors, one of the characteristics of which is to shelter the intensive exploitation of rich territories and to promote the circulation and circulation of the resources produced and transformed. These areas operate as capitations or concessions (A. Membe, 2013). They are made up either of abandoned territories or industrial parks, real extra territories administered under different direct regimes. This new warehouse economy is based on the commodification of relationships that, until now, have escaped, at least in part, the manufacture of goods. We will try to analyze four phenomena : 1) the creation of new transnational productive territories, 2) the role of migrants in their emergence, 3) the impact on the socio-economic restructuring of 'local' companies, 4) the return effect on local labour markets and the mobilisation of freight forwarders.
