Retours d'exils

Abstract : The studies gathered in this issue of the review "Autour de Vallès" is devoted to the return from exile in the second half of the 19th century, more particularly between 1848 and 1885. This chronological span encompasses those transported and deported in June, those outlawed from the Empire, those exiled from the Commune or those who more or less voluntarily approached their trajectories. Whether they are the work of writers, journalists or historians, the latter weave between the Second Republic, the Second Empire and the Third Republic possible "filiations" of the returns of exiles, which have not yet been the subject of any specific study. This issue focuses on the writing of the return from exile in various forms and addresses this novel question from a resolutely multidisciplinary angle, mixing literary, journalistic, historical and sociological approaches. Its contributors bring together French authors from a variety of backgrounds, some of whose texts remain little-known and partly unexplored today.
