L'outillage sur galet

Abstract : The cave of Reindeer has delivered pebble tools that provide additional information on the activities carried out on the site during the Aurignacian period. Usually in limited number in the habitats compared to other types of lithic remains, these tools can however account for technical or domestic activities which would otherwise remain ghostly activities. Technological analysis of this pebble tooling shows that, although not abundant, it is sufficiently varied to reflect the life of a camp in which a wide range of activities took place. This leads to the conclusion that we are indeed in the presence of a residential camp rather than a simple hunting stopover.
