Reconocer lo colectivo de los pueblos indigenas

Abstract : This interview returns to the importance of the dialogue that has been established over the past forty years between the representatives of indigenous peoples and the United Nations, by specifying the indigenous population in the world, the struggles to exercise the right to self-determination, the special relationship that these societies maintain with their territories, material and symbolic resources of their identity. The author highlights the challenges of recognizing collective rights, puts into perspective the developments in certain countries such as Bolivia and Ecuador towards a plurinational state and contextualizes the relationship between indigenous peoples and bio-cultural diversity. It tackles the issue of resilience and that of socio-economic change that affects the indigenous communities in the long term and that they face.
