Voyages au bout de l’intime. Les jeux vidéo à la maison

Abstract : This paper pursues two goals. First, to document the ordinary reception of video game practices. Second, to present an original method of analysis that makes possible to capture, to a certain extent, the experience of the reception of video games and possibly audiovisual products in the privacy of their audiences. Based upon audio and video recordings of game sessions and a “phenomenographic” approach inspired by Albert Piette, we show the richness and diversity of the commitments and rhythms that characterize the ordinary reception of a cultural practice.
