"Radio, guinguettes, chansons et jazz dans le roman aragonien"

Abstract : Tackling the question of the presence of song in Aragon’s novels may seem paradoxical or unimportant, if one were to limit their analysis to the numerous poems by Aragon to be put into music by contemporary singers – or today’s composers. Musical adaptations of his texts deal with an era of his production which begins in the 1930s, when Aragon advocates for song, particularly with the creation of the Maison de la Culture – and also a moment when he becomes a novelist. The analysis of some textual phenomena, in parallel with the references to songs in his novels, should allow us to grasp the kind of poetic realism at work in Aragon’s productions.
