Deux Bérytiens à Kourion

A Greek dipinto was discovered quite recently on the wall of a rock hermitage in the vicinity of Kourion. It features an invocation addressed to Christ by two men from the Phoenician city of Berytus. This text, first published in 2006, is here edited again and commented on accordingly. The proposed revision makes it possible to find the name of Nestabos, the second author of the inscription, and to replace this Semitic anthroponym within the Syrian onomastics of late antiquity.

Un dipinto grec a été découvert sur la paroi d’un ermitage rupestre aux environs de Kourion. Il se présente sous la forme d’une invocation adressée au Christ par deux hommes originaires de la cité phénicienne de Bérytos. Ce texte, publié en 2006, est ici édité de nouveau et commenté en conséquence. La révision proposée permet de retrouver le nom de Nestabos, le second auteur de l’inscription, et de replacer cet anthroponyme sémitique au sein de l’onomastique syrienne de l’Antiquité tardive.
