Les premières réalisations expérimentales du Plan Construction, entre laboratoire et démonstration

Abstract : Created in 1971 under the authority of the Ministry of Industrial and Scientific Development and the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, the Plan Construction was given the mission of “stimulating innovation” in the field of housing. Concurrently with incentive research, experimentation was representative of its activities, using housing developments both as frameworks for experimentation and as showcases, and even teaching aids, for the general public and building sponsors. These realizations, which as end products are indeed “model spaces,” are examined here from the viewpoint of their production process (conception, evaluation and media coverage) in order to understand their various ways of being, between scientific standards and pragmatism. With this historical analysis, this contribution aims at broadening the knowledge on this type of public action, still used today in town planning developments.
