Mahomet entre exégèse, hagiographie, rite et histoire

Abstract : This article traces the development of the sources and works involved in the construction of the character of Muhammad in Islam but also outside; then, it explores the consequences (on the thought but also on the ritual, social and political practices) of the dogmas thus constructed. Finally, it briefly recounts the history of the interpretation of an episode placed in the biography of the Prophet of Islam: the “split of the moon”.
