Big data environnemental

Abstract : The massification of environmental data at the beginning of the 21st century is a central dimension of anthropocenical debates. This massification is inseparable from the promise that it will soon be possible to computerize (model) the functioning of the planet's outer envelope, to predict it, and simultaneously to solve the problems that affect it. In short, to pilot the "earthship" (Boulton 2018). Thinking about the environmental "big data" is therefore, first of all, a way to understand how the interactions between science, technology and geopolitics have built since the 1980s the global scale as "the" relevant level of analysis of human relationships with the Earth.
