Abstract : This article examines the characteristics of professional political campaign teams at the time of the explosion of places and forms of production and dissemination of political messages. With the 2018 Brazilian election as our case study, this research highlights the importance of the WhatsApp application as a political communication environment. An online survey done with a sample of voters from different regions of Brazil is used to understand the dynamics of sharing political content via the application as well as the behaviors and motivations that underlie the action of users. By looking at the role of “common” voters, that is to say those outside professional or activist frameworks, our goal is to highlight the limits of postmodern campaigns in Brazil, despite the historically important role of political consultants in electoral contexts.
