Mobiliser le patrimoine des personnes âgées

Abstract : The issue of “old people’s money” refers both to the money they need and the money which is available to them. The question of older people financing their own future dependence has recently arisen. Recent developments in judicial facilities show that legislators have a growing interest in older people’s assets which are henceforth considered to be a new source of financing the needs of older people themselves or of their families. These developments, which are based on the traditional principle of the free disposal of heritage, raise the question of the way in which social allowances are granted to older people and dependent older people: To what extent do these developments replace or complement them? To what extent is the new model compatible with the French social protection system, will it simply add to it or lead to its transformation ?
