Distorsions et dilemmes du système performatif de l’aide internationale au développement

Abstract : Between the increasing ambitions attributed to international aid and the limited resources to achieve them, the normative and performative injunctions repeated by financial backers and international organizations have never been so strong. The dilemmas posed by the often assiduous implementation of these requirements by the various international aid actors nevertheless remain acute. Adapting to standards entails the harmonization, technicalization, and automation of professional processes and practices, while each actor seeks simultaneously to highlight a specificity or ability to innovate in a particularly competitive environment. Despite the constantly renewed criticisms and distortions which it is subject to, the model of the international aid system, studied here from the point of view of political sociology, seems however far from running out of steam.
