La revanche de l'occulte. Sorcellerie, chamanisme et justice en Amazonie

Abstract : Amongst the Yanomami people, shamanism (the affair of specialists) and sorcery (accessible to all) participate in the regulation of conflict. Manifest vengeance and concealed vengeance can not be dissociated and belong to the same logic of retortion. After having explored different techniques of sorcery-related murders and shamanic aggressions, the text proposes to enquire about the place occupied by the form "occult revenge" in the Yanomami system of justice and shows the particular role that this form plays-in appearance in a paradoxical way-in regard to both the principal of the perpetuation of vengeance and to the idea of measure attached to the vindicatory system.
