La répétition dans le projet des grands ensembles, Toulouse

Abstract : In the large housing estates, dwellings are repeated horizontally and vertically in buildings and they themselves are multiplied in bands repeated in ordered groups of buildings. In observing the embodied scale of series in the large estates, we can see the repetition and scale model of their conception. To know how the repetition acts on the process and how creation is possible, we retrace the architects process, who were generally trained in the beaux-arts composition and confronted with this new architecture for massive collective housing. The study method is based on the reversibility of the architectural analysis and on the project, and considering the absence of written work from the architects in the consensus concerning their working approach and the homology between the beaux-arts composition and the inherent characteristics of this architectural repetition.
