Déplacement social et entrées en agriculture

Abstract : Based on the case study of two market gardeners set up from the Parisian “petite bourgeoisie”, this article aims to study the successive “solutions” and adjustment mechanisms in the social mobility analysis. Thought of as unlikely situations, these atypical ways of entry into agriculture are made possible by the convergence of general and agricultural fields of education and their optimization by agricultural professional challengers and consumers concerned about quality. The comparison of these two mobility careers highlights the importance of resources contextualization and periodization to understand how, paradoxically, entrance into agriculture contributes to the extension of the indeterminacy of futures.
