Des tribus en Algérie ? À propos de la déstructuration tribale durant la période coloniale.

Abstract : This paper aims to revisit the theses of tribal dismantling in Algeria, in order to underline its reality but also its limits. The author examines the case of the policy of colonial authorities with regard to two tribes belonging to the territory of Ain Sefra: cAmûr and Awlâd Sid Ahmad Majdûb. The purpose is not so much to write a social history of these tribes, but to compare the decisions taken by the colonial authorities with regard to the tribal question in the civil departments of the Nord and in the Southern Territories.
