Adoption : Les familles de la République

Abstract : Out of the public eye, and not currently subject to heated debate, rates of international adoption are on the decline. Indeed, adoption wanes in silence: compared to same-sex marriage, surrogacy or even civil contracts, adoption issues arouse relatively little media interest or activist investment. Yet adoption – especially now, at the time of its "crisis" – remains a privileged object for analyzing the contemporary treatment of family issues and – further – the political, moral, and institutional management of private lives and domestic arrangements.
