Eduquer à la science et à l'esprit critique dans le cadre d'un accés à la culture scientifique pour tpus : le cas de la mécanique quantique

Abstract : Educate science and critical thinking as part of access to a scientific culture for all: the case of quantum mechanics 1-Introduction. Science and critical education is one of the missions of teaching in the formal framework of that of the school or university and can be an objective of mediation or the popularization of science within the non-formal framework of that of the museum or public conferences, for example. With this in mind, quantum physics, by its formalism now proven for almost 100 years but by its interpretations still open, seems to us to offer a relevant angle to address the development of the critical mind (not only in this physics, but on science itself), especially since quantum physics is largely subject to overinterpretation and misinterpretations (see Quantox, Monvoisin, 2011). In the formal context, we analyze, through physics textbooks, the teaching of quantum physics offered to high school students of the Scientific Terminale (TS) in France by placing the debate on the conceptual aspect, by discussing the epistemology of this subject , even its ontology, intensively addressed mainly by philosophers of science. This epistemological analysis work with the 5 French TS textbooks has been published (see P. Lautesse et al., 2015) as well as a work on ontology (see Héraud et al., 2017). This latest work addresses the ontology of quantum physics through fictional narratives, described as realistic, within the framework of Lewis's theory of possible worlds (Lewis, 1975) and using Gamow's story (Mr Tompkins in 1975) as an illustration Wonderland, 1936) an excerpt of which is quoted in one of TS's textbooks.
