Les ambiguïtés d’un dispositif solaire de référence : la loggia de la "Maison radieuse" de Le Corbusier

Abstract : A survey of the "loggia brise-soleil" (sun-braker) shows that Le Corbusier’s solar principles are not achieved for the common dwelling of the "Unité d’Habitation". However, the resulting drawbacks in thermal comfort are not so much criticized by the inhabitants, who seem to be satisfied by the loggia as the metaphorical garden of the "Vertical City". In this paper, we present our results on this issue and we discuss some solutions that may achieve both Le Corbusier’s solar intents and the main principles of the "Unité d’habitation".
