Décommuniser l'espace public par la loi. Un anticommunisme d'État en Pologne

This article deals with the so called decommunization law passed in 2016 by the Law and Justice government. The law forced the municipalities to change the name of streets named after communists, according to a list elaborated by the Institute of National Remembrance. If the law and its implementation illustrate a kind of state anticommunism, I argue that memories of communism are far more diverse in Poland, as testified by the numerous forms of opposition to decommunization in the last couple of years.
