Les médias d'information jouent-ils le jeu de l'innovation ? Le cas du newsgame

Abstract : During the last two decades, the development of digital technologies and devices has deeply changed the information culture, encouraging press companies to adapt themselves to face new challenge. These times are characterized by the emergence of new formats to design information such as webdocumentary or datajournalism. As such, the newsgame – a kind of serious game used in the news can be seen as an innovation, not only as a new journalistic form but also as revealing the overhaul of newsrooms, the ongoing evolution of journalist profession or the reshaping of journalism territory. This paper deals with the design, the distribution and the uses of the newsgame through the particular example of Primaires à Gauche, produced in 2011 by Le, and other more recent productions. But, beyond the newsgame, we study the relevance of the concept of innovation when it is applied to new journalistic practices wishing to match the supposed news consumption practices.
