The gap strategy in Ixcatec (Otomanguean, Mexico)

Abstract : The present research report provides an overview of the gap strategy in Ixcatec, a critically-endangered and under-described Otomanguean language of Mexico. Ixcatec RCs using the gap strategy are postnominal. They are built with an uninflected complementizer and involve a finite verb or a predicate adjective. The head of the RC can be a noun, but in free-speech RCs are frequently constructed with a null nominal.
