« Le patient s’appelle Anna Dubrovnik. » Proposition méthodologique pour l’étude de la dimension « genre » dans les manuels de français pour allophones

Abstract : Representations conveying gendered discourse have been the object of extensive research for the last 40 years in France aiming to elaborate methodological tools enabling the identification and evaluation of social sex relations portrayed in scholastic textbooks. This article proposes a new elaborated methodological approach for the analysis of social sex representations portrayed in didactic textbooks used in teaching French as a Foreign Language (FFL) to adult learners. Using Brugeilles’ and Cromer’s (2005) methodological proposal as a spring board, we discuss the specificities that compose the FFL field, thus leading us to propose a modular grid methodology articulating gender with French foreign language didactics. Our modular grid proposal aims to provide a valuable tool for scientists pursuing studies on gender and foreign language learning.
