Quand domination rime avec concessions. L'évêque de Clermont et l'octroi de franchises (XIIIe-XIVe siècles)

Abstract : During the late Middle Ages, the establishment of new powers and their domination was carried out in a variety of ways, often including granting a franchise charter. In Auvergne, the Bishop of Clermont thus granted several charters to localities under his control, with different practices and objectives for each site. The study of these provides an understanding of the establishment of a political and social domination on the part of the prelate, who was also an important landowning lord.
