L’épistémologie clinique de Ludwig Binswanger (1881-1966) : la psychiatrie comme « science du singulier »

Abstract : The theoretical and methodological questions at the origin of the “existential” psychiatry are strongly connected to the clinical problems of the academic psychiatry at the beginning of the 20th century. One of the most important among these problems is the need of reconciling the patient’s singularity with the universality of the scientific categories. This paper aims to present and analyze Ludwig Binswanger’s psychiatric project in order to open a reflection upon the relations between the epistemological insights developed by the phenomenological psychiatry and their consequences for the therapeutic practice.
